Alantra has advised Grupo Lyrsa, a Spanish leader in the metallurgical recycling sector, on its sale to Derichebourg, a French listed company specialized in environmental services.
Grupo Lyrsa started its activity in 1939 and operates 18 recycling centers (17 in Spain and 1 in Portugal). In 2018, Grupo Lyrsa obtained an annual turnover of around €425m, employing approximately 600 people. The Group processes about one million tons of metal waste per year, including 160,000 tons of non-ferrous metals.
With a turnover of €2.9Bn and more than 39,000 employees, Derichebourg is a global player in environmental services, with presence in 15 countries. Derichebourg strengthens its presence in the European market by acquiring the main operator of the sector in Spain. The synergies and the industrial sense of the transaction will allow Lyrsa to consolidate its leadership in the Spanish market and continue with its development plan.
The transaction is subject to the approval of the Spanish competition authorities and is expected to be closed at the end of 2019.
