Alantra is pleased to announce that its client, Visible Body, creator of the world’s best-selling human anatomy app, has entered into a strategic partnership with Capitala Group and Lineage Capital. The deal closed on November 7, 2018 and the transaction value was not disclosed. Alantra acted as the exclusive strategic and financial advisor to Visible Body on the partnership.
Founded in 1996, Visible Body designs and markets medically accurate 3D models, courseware and virtual reality animations of the human body for B2B and B2C end users in the higher education and healthcare markets. The Visible Body online and mobile product catalog is sold in over 220 countries with the flagship products available in 7 languages. Clients include Apple, Google, Microsoft, Medtronic, Wolters Kluwer, Mass General and Johnson & Johnson, among others.
Alantra’s Boston-based deal team included Mr. Charles “Chuck” DelGrande (Managing Director), Jonathan Tetirick (Vice President) and Jason Barella (Analyst). “We are thrilled to assist Visible Body with this transaction,” said Chuck DelGrande. “The new partnership with Capitala and Lineage will provide Visible Body with the capital, guidance, and industry experience it needs to accelerate its global growth vision.” Visible Body’s founders, brothers Andrew and Matthew Bowditch, will maintain a majority interest and will continue day-to-day management of the company.
“Matt and I are extremely pleased with the outcome and overall effort from Alantra and the team,” said Andrew Bowditch, co-founder of Visible Body. “We appreciate the time and research that went into finding the best partners for our business, and we look forward to growing with Capitala and Lineage. We fully expect that Alantra will be there for the next stage in the process,” he concluded.
