Alantra, the independent global mid-market investment bank, has advised ParcelHero, a leading e-commerce shipping platform and software provider, on receiving significant investment from US-based The Firmament Group (“Firmament”), a leading provider of tailored capital solutions. Westbrooke Alternative Asset Management (“Westbrooke”) partnered with Firmament as a co-investor in the transaction.

Founded by industry veteran, Roger Sumner Rivers, who has over 25 years of experience in the logistics technology space, ParcelHero is a leading e-commerce shipping platform and provider of multi-carrier shipping software to enterprises and consumers. The business offers domestic and international shipping options via the largest selection of carrier partners in the UK.

ParcelHero’s technology allows businesses of all sizes to optimise shipping costs and automate logistics processes. This investment from Firmament will help fund the ongoing development of ParcelHero’s leading B2C software platform and a new B2B capability, which will enable retailers to manage multiple carrier relationships through a single platform.

Alantra advised ParcelHero on the transaction, led by Robert Young with support from Harry Sparks.

Robert Young, Director at Alantra, said: “It has been great to support Roger and his team through this process. He has a really exciting vision for ParcelHero’s new B2B proposition and we believe Firmament and Westbrook will be great partners to help realise this.”

Roger Sumner Rivers, Founder of ParcelHero, commented: “We are delighted to have Firmament and Westbrooke alongside us as we finalise development of what we believe is a truly differentiated and market leading carrier management platform, releasing to retailers in Q1 2022. Both parties are experienced in working with logistics technology businesses and will be great partners to ParcelHero.”

Ted Wong, Principal at Firmament, added: “We are thrilled to partner with Roger and the entire ParcelHero team to capitalise on the numerous industry tailwinds within the multi-carrier shipping software industry.  As an established supply chain investor, we are committed to providing the capital solutions necessary for the ParcelHero team to grow and further develop its technology suite.”

This transaction further demonstrates Alantra’s experience in the logistics technology sector, having completed three transactions within the last two weeks. This includes advising Meanings Capital and the management team on the sale of a majority stake in Groupe Sterne to Tikehau Capital, and the MBO of a specialist logistics solutions provider backed by a UK private equity house.
