London – Alantra has acted as corporate finance advisor to Therme Group on its acquisition of Therme Erding, the largest wellbeing destination globally, located near Munich in Germany.

With this transaction, Therme Group is set to surpass 3.5 million annual visitors to its wellbeing infrastructure in Europe. To complete the acquisition of Therme Erding, Therme Group deployed alongside its own equity a €320mn funding package secured from Macquarie Capital’s Principal Finance team—globally recognized as a leader in infrastructure financing. The funding, arranged by Deutsche Bank, represents one of the largest asset-backed financings in the industry. The acquisition of Therme Erding establishes Therme Group as the world’s largest operator of wellbeing infrastructure and reinforces Therme Group’s commitment to advancing the expansion of its state-of-the-art wellbeing infrastructure worldwide.

Alantra will continue to support Therme Group as it seeks to pursue its expansion plans with sites in Manchester, Frankfurt and beyond.

Bobby Fletcher, Managing Director and UK Head of Real Estate at Alantra, said: “We are delighted to see the acquisition of Therme Erding complete. Therme has built a highly talented team across the globe in anticipation of the next phase of expansion through development of some of the most impressive social infrastructure projects conceived. We look forward to advising the company on the pursuit of its ambitions going forward as Alantra continues to build on its significant momentum in the broader hospitality sector across Europe.”
