Alantra has advised MAHLE Group, a leading German automotive supplier, on the sale of MAHLE Motorkomponenten GmbH, a leading producer of forged components to the automotive sector. Alantra’s Frankfurt team provided exclusive M&A advice to MAHLE Group. With the previously announced sale of MAHLE’s industrial filtration business, the sale of MAHLE Motorkomponenten GmbH marks the second transaction of MAHLE Group advised by Alantra within six months. The transaction was signed on January 30, 2017 and is subject to approval of the relevant anti-trust authorities.
Alantra structured a process focused on strategic buyers that remained competitive until the end. Thorough preparation from the deal team prior to entering the market allowed the client to address complex carve-out issues early.
Based in Plettenberg (North Rhine-Westphalia) and Roßwein (Saxony), MAHLE Motorkomponenten GmbH develops and produces highly stressed steel-forged blanks for connecting rods and balancer shafts for light and heavy-duty vehicles. MAHLE Group is a leading international development partner and supplier to the automotive industry headquartered in Germany. In 2015, MAHLE generated sales of approximately €11.5bn with around 76,000 employees and is represented in 34 countries with over 170 production locations.
