Madrid – Alantra has advised BBVA on the successful disposal of a Spanish mortgage exposure comprising € 300mn of re-performing loans (RPL) granted to individuals and backed by residential assets.
Alantra arranged a competitive sale process where several bidders submitted offers to buy the economics rights of the portfolio while letting BBVA retain the servicing and client relationship. The sale was structured as an issuance of mortgage participations purchased by the investor One William Street through an Irish securitisation vehicle.
This is a milestone in BBVA’s group strategy plan towards capital optimization. The process attracted significant interest and Alantra demonstrated its ability to execute a complex deal that represented the debut RPL for BBVA.
