Alantra strengthens its Spanish Investment Banking team with the appointment of Ignasi Portals as Managing Director based in Barcelona

Barcelona – Alantra, the independent global mid-market financial services firm, has strengthened its Spanish Investment Banking team with the hire of Ignasi Portals as Managing Director based in Barcelona.

Ignasi has more than 25 years of banking experience, having worked at Banco Santander since 1996, where he held different management positions in Barcelona and Madrid leading business and risk teams. For the past seven years, he was responsible for Banco Santander’s Corporate & Investment Banking business in Catalonia. Ignasi has extensive knowledge of the Catalan market, having advised on numerous transactions in the region, including corporate structured finance, real estate, LBOs, project finance both in financing and coordination and advisory roles.

Alantra’s Investment Banking team in Spain, which offers a full range of services, including equity and debt capital markets, M&A advisory, debt advisory, restructuring, Credit Portfolio Advisory, and SFABS. In the past months, the team has advised Audax Renovables on securing a €66m HoldCo financing for the development of 141MWp photovoltaic projects in Spain, Grupo Planeta on a €100m private placement, Neinor Homes on the creation of a joint venture with AXA Investment Managers, Roca on the disposal of its Tile Division to Lamosa S.A.B., or the shareholders of ID Energy in a pre-IPO capital increase, amongst others.
