2020 – Thriving through adversity

In a time of unprecedented uncertainty, the priority for our Investment Banking division has been to ensure we continue to be close to our clients, providing full, independent advisory services, anticipating solutions for transactions already underway and adapting to new situations that are occurring as a result of this environment.

The Investment Banking division completed 60 transactions in H12020, supporting clients by finding solutions across a range of M&A situations as well as raising new capital (equity and debt), arranging refinancing and debt restructuring.

Alternative Asset Management has been focusing on managing its portfolios to minimise the risks inherent in this situation, looking for attractive investment opportunities despite the current downturn and establishing strategic agreements to continue its growth plan.

In March 2020, Grupo Mutua became a reference partner of Alantra Asset Management to accelerate the growth plan.

The private debt division completed the first close of a new real estate debt fund and completed three new investments in direct lending, real estate debt and special opportunities.

As part of the ongoing commitment to expand and support its client base, the Credit Portfolio Advisory (CPA) division has increased its global footprint by establishing dedicated CPA offices in Latin America (Brazil) and Asia (China) and has strengthened its European operations.

The onset of Covid-19 is accelerating profound changes for our clients, including regulatory changes regarding non-performing loans and capital, changes to business models, digitalization, the search for efficient funding and a focus on loan book quality and balance sheet optimization. Against this backdrop, Alantra CPA closed 11 deals and is currently working on several projects designing bespoke sale processes to accommodate investor due diligence remotely.
