Catherine Lewis La Torre CBE

Catherine Lewis La Torre has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in alternative investments, including private equity, private credit and technology investing. She is a former Chief Executive of the British Business Bank as well as its private capital investment entities, British Business Investments and British Patient Capital. She was Chair of the Bank’s Investment Committees and throughout her tenure worked alongside the most senior members of the UK Government on the launch and scale-up of several debt and equity investment programs and direct investment funds. Prior to joining the bank, Catherine had a proven track record of success having operated as a founder of, and partner in, several European and U.S. private equity firms and has lived and worked in six European countries. She has managed funds on behalf of institutional investors globally and has advised Sovereign Wealth Funds on their private capital strategies.
Catherine Lewis La Torre is graduate of the London School of Economics, where she earned a Master in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with First Class Honors.
She was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year Honors List 2025 for services to business.
