A web-based application to access worldwide weather data and forecast, called the Weather API. An in-house and proprietary drone system called Meteodrones that provides additional data from the mid and low levels of the atmosphere, between 1 and 10km of altitude, which then feeds into the API.
Meteomatics targets businesses in need of precise and hyperlocal forecasts since weather has a direct impact on their P&L or activities. The company currently has more than 400 customers, being Energy the main sector.
Improve penetration of renewable sources and the overall efficiency of the energy system by improving the accuracy of the forecast of wind and solar assets production and of the demand side.
Direct CO2 emissions reduction in both the aviation (2.4% CO2 emissions) and the shipping industry (2.4% CO2 emissions) as weather analytics can optimize routes and reduce emissions up to 4% as well as fuel consumption up to 10%.
Helps national agencies to prevent better extreme climate events.
