Alantra has advised Spanish multinational SAICA on the acquisition of the Americk Packaging Group.
The Americk Packaging Group is a leading independent producer of flexible packaging. Located across six sites in Ireland and the UK, it employs 691 people with turnover of around £110 million in 2015. Acquiring the Americk Packaging Group enables SAICA to continue its development in the flexible packaging sector with the ability to offer a wider range of products and services to its customers.
Formed over 70 years ago, SAICA is a family-owned company with turnover of €2.4bn in 2015. It is the leading European company for the development and production of recycled paper for corrugated cardboard, producing 2.5 million tonnes of recycled paper annually. With more than 8,000 employees across Spain, Italy, Portugal, UK, Ireland, Turkey and Luxembourg, SAICA has four business areas: recycled paper production for corrugated cardboard (PAPER), recyclable materials recovery (NATUR), production of corrugated packaging (PACK) and flexible packaging (FLEX).
Griffin is the global market leader in the provision of specialist travel services to the marine and offshore industries, arranging travel for crews rotating onto merchant ships and oil rigs. The business was founded in 1977 and has 700 staff across 32 strategically-located offices. Customers rely on Griffin to get their crews to their destinations, on time, worldwide. These crew members are often involved in high-value applications, where being a day late would disrupt voyage schedules or obligatory crew rotations with major cost implications. Griffin’s global resources and experience have resulted in long-term customer relationships and strong market share growth.
ATPI is an international travel and events management company which provides services across all key industries and specialising in marine, oil & gas and the professional services sectors. Its acquisition of Griffin will strengthen its marine offering in key international markets specifically.
