Alantra implements strong succession plan in Switzerland with the appointments of Michael Maag as CEO and Martin Gamperl as Managing Director

Zurich – Alantra, the independent global mid-market financial services firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Maag as CEO and Managing Partner in Switzerland and Martin Gamperl as Managing Director based in Zurich. Longstanding Swiss Managing Partners Martin Menzi and Kurt Rüegg will begin stepping back from the day-to-day business, ensuring a seamless transition to maintain Alantra’s market leading position in Switzerland.

The additions to the Swiss office follow a series of new appointments across Alantra aimed at fostering greater integration within Alantra’s Investment Banking division, globally. It also underlines Alantra’s growth ambitions in German-speaking Europe, following the recent appointment of Jan Caspar Hoffman as CEO of Germany.

Michael Maag joins Alantra from Morgan Stanley, where he was Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking in Switzerland. Before that, he worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs in Frankfurt and London. He brings 20 years of experience and has advised on transactions worth over $50bn, including numerous M&A, IPO and capital raising transactions across various sectors and geographies.

Martin Gamperl has 15 years of investment banking experience. He joins from Rothschild & Co, where he was a Director in the Swiss Corporate Finance Advisory team focused on M&A and capital markets transactions. From 2014 to 2017, he was part of Alantra’s Swiss Corporate Finance Advisory team and prior to this, he worked at Rothschild & Co in the firm’s German and Indian offices.
