Paris – Alantra advised WeAre Group on its alliance with Mecachrome to create a European leader in elementary parts and sub-assemblies. This transaction between two major players in the aerospace sector supported by Tikehau Ace Capital and Bpifrance is an important operation for the consolidation of the French market. Mecachrome thus becomes a leading French multi-technology group in the strategic sectors of aeronautics, space, defense and automotive.

WeAre Group is a major industrial group in precision mechanics for the aerospace and defense sectors. Mecachrome is a leading French player in the design, machining, sub-assemblies and high-precision assemblies for the aeronautics, automotive, defense and energy sectors.

The new Mecachrome group intends to achieve sales of nearly €450 million in 2022 and to reach more than €750 million by 2025. The Group will thus become one of the five largest manufacturers of aerospace parts in Europe. With more than 20 production sites in 5 countries and a workforce of 3,700, the new entity will reach a critical size that will enable it to meet the needs of major customers such as Airbus, Safran and Dassault. Following the new acquisition, the Group will be able to anticipate future demands, to approach new customers in growth segments such as premium automotive and nuclear power, and to deploy an ambitious approach to social and environmental responsibility.

“The acquisition between Mecachrome and WeAre Group marks a key step in the history of the French aerospace industry. The new entity is now positioned to be a European leader in the manufacture of elementary parts and sub-assemblies. This is Alantra’s 16th advised transaction in the aerospace sector in two years,” said Olivier Guignon, Managing Partner of Alantra, and Florian Touchard, Partner of Alantra.
